Fire Service Women Ontario’s 2018 Symposium & AGM Contest
ATTENTION FIREFIGHTERS & ASPIRING FIREFIGHTERS
Enter for your chance to win free registration and two nights stay to Fire Service Women Ontario’s 2018 SYMPOSIUM & AGM sponsored by Lerners LLP
During last year’s conference I unexpectedly won the prize for free registration to this year’s FSWO Symposium and AGM hosted by Conestoga College. It was exciting to have my name called since I’ve never won so much as a scratch ticket before! However, I knew that I could not keep the prize. I have received more benefits from the organization as a former firefighter and Board member than I could possibly count. Instead, as a FSWO symposium sponsor, I have decided to ‘pay it forward’.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with the ‘pay it forward’ philosophy, the simplest way to define it is that when someone does something for you, instead of paying that person back directly, you ‘pay it forward’ or do a good deed for another person or group of people. Through acts of kindness among strangers, from one person to the next, a ripple effect can ensue and result in more caring and compassionate communities.
I am asking all interested firefighters and aspiring firefighters to ‘pay it forward’ with some sort of deed in their community that is for the benefit of another person or group of people. Lerners LLP takes great interest and pride in supporting first responders and we are proud to sponsor this year’s Symposium & AGM. Our hope is that by giving back to the people who serve our communities, including many of our clients, they will be inspired to do the same. As the saying goes, “Leave this job better than you found it”.
The contest ends Monday, October 8, 2018. There are two requirements to enter: 1) applicants must like and share our Facebook post; and 2) comment on the Facebook post (in 500 words or less) describing your ‘pay it forward’ deed and its impact, attaching either a photo or video showing your deed in action. The winning applicant will be reimbursed if they have already registered.
