Oh, what a night (at the Moulin Rouge)!
Lerners is proud to have been one of the Presenting Sponsors for “Minds for Change: A Night at the Moulin Rouge” featuring the fabulous Miss Conception, in support of London Health Sciences Centre First Episode Mood and Anxiety Program (FEMAP).
The FEMAP clinic provides programs and support for older teens and young adults with emotional concerns that fall into the categories of mood and/or anxiety symptoms. This is an important program because the vast majority of mental illness starts before the age of 25, yet this age group experiences the largest gap in mental health services. FEMAP provides a full range of services from assessments to therapy, and substance abuse treatments. The goal for the event was to raise money for this program to help reduce their current nine month waiting list for individuals seeking treatment.
As a member of the Minds for Change planning committee, I know first-hand the effort and hard work it took to bring this inaugural, one-of-a-kind, event to Londoners. Miss Conception inspired guests to donate to this great cause through her larger than life performance that included on-pitch deliveries of classic show tunes and other hits, all while changing into at least a dozen costumes in plain sight! It’s safe to say that when the entire room stood to do the Time Warp, the organizing committee knew that Miss C. had won the hearts of everyone in attendance.
We are very grateful for the generosity of the individuals who attended last evening. Donations from the event are still being calculated so stay tuned for our final numbers!
Thank you to everyone involved for making this event a huge success!
