Traumatic Brain Injury Case Testimonial- Meet Richie

Richie Ray was in a car accident 3 years ago. He was driving home from working a night shift when his car drifted over the centre line and he collided with an oncoming vehicle totaling his vehicle.

After his catastrophic brain injury and massive orthopedic injuries, Richie spent 9 months of intensive rehabilitation at Parkwood Institute where he learned to walk and get back to doing his daily activities and hit the restart button on is life.

Richie was very athletic growing up but especially loved basketball. Richie’s high school basketball coach was able to offer a volunteer position with Central Elgin’s basketball team as an assistant coach. This brings Richie much enjoyment and even if he can’t play it is a way to stay involved in the sport. The team decided to apply to go to a basketball tournament in China and Richie was offered a spot to travel with them, this is a once in a lifetime event that he couldn’t pass up but had to do a lot of planning to make happen. The team leaves on June 14 to Xuyui, China to play teams from Taiwan, New Zealand, Australia and the United States at New Century International College.

We are proud to see our clients succeed and have chances to do things that they only dreamed of doing.

Richie wanted to share the following: “After my accident I didn’t think that I would be able to have an opportunity like this to travel and do something I really love doing, thanks to Nigel and his team for everything they did including putting together a great rehabilitation team who with a lot of hard work got me to where I am today.”
