Convicted Pedophile John Gallienne Pleads Guilty to New Sex Assault Charges
On Monday, June 6, John Gallienne, the former organist and choirmaster at St. Georges's Anglican Church in Kingston, pleaded guilty to two more sex assaults on former choirboys, bringing the total number of Gallienne's victims who have secured criminal convictions to 17. First prosecuted in 1990, Gallienne was convicted of abusing 13 boys, some as young as eight, during a 15-year period spanning the 70's and 80's. A few years after, two other victims came forward, one who had been a choir boy in Victoria, B.C., where Gallienne previously worked as a choirmaster.
The latest set of charges were laid when two more former Kingston choirboys finally came forward to the police. These new convictions, dating back 28 and 32 years, demonstrate clearly that it is never too late for victims to seek justice and vindication. We urge anyone else who has been sexually abused by Gallienne, or by any person in a position of trust or authority, to come forward and seek legal advise.
