Adding more bollards into open spaces could avert deadly crash in future, says critics
More than a year after a car plowed between two barrier posts into the front of a London big-box store, ultimately killing two children, observers say more needs to be done to prevent another such tragedy.
Costco didn’t respond to several Free Press emails and messages on the subject, but a lawyer for the family suggested more could be done to guard against a similar collision.
“I am very troubled that Costco has not yet corrected the wide gap between the bollards (or barrier posts) at the entrance to the store. If a tragedy of this magnitude doesn’t motivate it to correct a dangerous situation, I’m not sure what will,” wrote Maia Bent said in an email reply to questions.
